Sherry Vaughns new book blends fantasy and reality in a story about a young girl, her blind grandfather, and a bunch of wonderful little sprites called the Weeuns. Most people, especially during their childhoods, live a life of fantasy, as Sarah does in Granpas Eyes. I was troubled as a child by tales of the fearsome Yea-Ho that would come and sit outside the windows of children who refused to go to sleep and yell and peep in at them. Sherrys creatures, however, do only good deeds. Sarah does her own good deeds by caring for her grandfather, becoming his eyes to the world. This is a must-read book about the fantasies and realities of growing up.
Denvil Mullins
